Why I built QuestMe

A dad's side project, started for one kid

My daughter Danica is 9, in Year 4. She's curious, creative, and loves a challenge — but maths practice made her slump in her chair. The apps we tried either felt like school homework with a new coat of paint, or were built for a curriculum three countries away.

So I built her something. I called it Danica's Quest — a quiz page where she could pick her own theme (she chose Space, obviously), do NSW curriculum questions, and see her own streak grow. She started asking to do it after dinner. That was the moment I knew.

QuestMe is that idea, built properly. It's not trying to replace a teacher, or teach concepts from scratch. It's a place to practise what's already been learned, in a way that feels like yours — not like homework. The Mistake Journal tracks what your child keeps getting wrong, so practice time targets the gaps that actually matter.

We're just getting started. If you've got a child in Years 1–6 in NSW and this sounds like something they'd use, I'd love 20 families to try it free and tell me honestly what works and what doesn't.
